Product Description

PERU FTO SOL Y CAFE ANDRES GUEVARA RUIZ GRAINPRO is produced by Andrés Guevara Ruiz and processed as a micro-lot at the Cooperativa de Servicios Multiples Sol y Café Ltda (Sol y Café) an organization established in March of 2008. Andres and his wife Rosa own and manage a 4-acre farm called La Palma, located in the community of El Vergel in La Coipa district within San Ignacio province in the Cajamarca región, Peru. Andres has been farming coffee for more than twenty years and joined Sol y Café in 2008. As a member of Sol y Café, Andres has benefited from loans and technical support to help him renovate his farm, and financing to purchase fertilizers. While coffee continues to be the family's main source of income, Andres has future plans for planting more shade trees that can also be harvest and sold to generate an additional source of income for the family. Now that Andres’s children are adults he is also dedicating more time to experimenting with drying and fermentation processes. In addition to processing experiments, Andres has planted a total of ten different coffee varietals at La Palma.
