Ethiopian Harrar CP Select Zoom

Ethiopian Harrar CP Select

Flavor notes: mellow dried berries, full body, and coco
This full-natural sun-dried coffee is sourced from select areas of the region and the cherries are meticulously hand sorted, dried, milled and hand sorted again to near zero defects.
The coffee isn't washed during processing giving it a wilder quality than the washed Ethiopians (Sidamos, Yirgachefes.) Great as a component in your espresso.

Product Description

    Details

The birthplace of the coffee plant continues to produce the most ancient and some of the most unique coffees in the world. Ethiopian Moka is a dry-processed coffee from Harrar. The coffee isn't washed during processing giving it a wilder quality than the washed Ethiopians (Sidamos, Yirgachefes). One of the first "specialty coffees" it rarely made it to Europe and the Americas as the Saudis traditionally paid the most for these beans. Used today as a substitute for Yemen Mocha. Look for the classic berry note. Great as a component in your espresso. (BTW- Mocha or Moka is (was) the name of the African port the coffee was shipped from - closed by a giant sandbar in the early 20th century). This bean is produced by Abdirashid Abdullahi, the nephew of the legendary Ogsadey who produced the world famous Horse coffee brand. The extra hand sorting brings this bean to near zero defects, bringing out a cup quality matching the glory days of the Harrar Horse coffee brand.

I like this one with Bali Blue Moon. I roast both pretty high in my poor old 500 and blend them after roasting. Distinct cocoa flavor without the bitterness that sometimes accompanies that flavor.

Bali has an active volcano and Ethiopia is in crisis or turmoil of some sort all the time, so if you want these coffees, you'd best order soon and get a lot of them. (Posted on 1/12/2018)
