Product Description

Honduras SHG Fair Trade Organic Marcala

One of the interesting aspect about THIS coffee, aside from being a sweet, carmel, medium bodied Honduran, are the growers themselves. This coffee was produced by an all female coop 256 member strong; The Asociacion Coordinadora de Mujeres Campesinas de La Paz.

Its all organic, strictly high grown (SHG), and Fair Trade too.

...This is another on of those coffees recently that has benefited greatly from organized and dedicated attention to quality. Through greater attention in processing, organization, and education efforts toward certifications have brought this and other Honduran coffees from being average, to being a Specialty Coffee grade choice.

Certifications: Biolatina (organic). The coop is 100% organic and began exporting in 2004-05.

Harvest & Exportation Time: Harvest begins in October and shipping starts in January.

Look for a clean cup with a light apple fruitiness and a hint of nutty. Honduran coffees are generally not bright coffees, but instead known more for their sweetness. OK for a darker roast.
