Hearthware I-Roast II
New to home roasting? Read Roasting 101 for an idea of what to expect. This is the NEW I-Roast2 coffee roaster Is it simple or complicated to use? The I-Roast can be simple but it also offers enough settings and variables to keep the expert busy in trying to hit that elusive perfect 'sweet spot.' If you are new to roasting, you might want to read Roasting 101. Working With the Stages With the I-Roast 2, you have programmable profiles of up to fifteen minutes in length. Each profile can have be made up of 5 stages that the roaster remembers and repeats. Here's a tip. Start with only 3 stages. Later on, when you are more seasoned, if you feel you need 5 stages, go for it. But for now, work with 3 stages/profiles. You can achieve a consistent roast, time after time, without losing a bit of the bright edge in an acidic bean. This machine is the answer to those that love a bright cup. Another tip. Ignore most of the suggested profiles that you see recommended on the web. Why? like every roaster each I-Roast 2 has just a little bit of its own mind; slight differences in calibration. Then when you toss in your own variables like ambient temperature, your line voltages, the differences in beans, etc., trying to swap profiles becomes meaningless. Botton line get to know your machine. How is the I-Roast-2 better than the original I-Roast?
